“Alma Negra, meaning “Black Soul”, is a new dance team, passionate for the NY mambo style. It was created in April 2009 by the group of professional dancers with a great renown at the Polish salsa scene, whose aim is to spread their love for salsa. They all combine experience and technical dance skills with a “black soul” approach to mambo. The group are:
Kasia ‘Lorek’ Lorkowska – a very experienced salsa instructor, performer, choreographer, also a cofounder of Montuno Aye Salsa & Kizomba School. She is a graduate of Broadway Dance Center (jazz concentration) and was a long time Eddie Torres’ student.
Klaudia ‘Klau’ Oleksak – dances since she was 7 years old. Recently she works as a dance instructor, choreographer, and a consultant in a TV dance show. She created her unique style by combining salsa with funk, jazz and hip hop.
Oskar ‘Oski’ Augustyn – the youngest in the team but a very talented choreographer, greatly inspired by Frankie Martinez and his Abakua. He was twice the winner of the biggest Polish salsa contest, Primavera Salsa Open Competition in mambo category (in 2009 dancing pachanga with Lorek).
Piotr ‘Mayer’ Romanow – one of the most experienced salsa teachers in Poland, a former member of Salsa Libre dance team, performing internationally at many salsa congresses (including Tallinn). Also known as PinchaDiscos DosPlantas – a salsa DJ.”
